Windsor Waste Management Celebrates Success at the Inaugural Demmy Awards
On Friday, 17th April, the Windsor Waste Management team travelled to Brighton to attend the very first Demmy Awards, a brand-new event hosted by Demolition Hub.
Created to sit alongside the well-established British Demolition Awards, the Demmy’s shine a spotlight on something just as important as innovation and projects: the people driving the demolition industry forward.
And for Windsor Waste Management, it was an evening to remember.
Recognising Rising Talent in the Demolition Sector
We’re proud to share that our Client Relationship Manager, Gabby Sarbutts, was named Highly Commended in the Rising Star (Under 30) category.
This category celebrates individuals who are new to the industry but have made a significant impact in a short space of time, and Gabby’s journey is a perfect example.
Having joined Windsor Waste Management with no prior demolition or hazardous waste experience, Gabby has rapidly developed into a trusted and highly capable professional within the sector.
In just three years, she has:
Progressed from an entry-level administrative role
Taken ownership of some of our largest and most complex client accounts
Delivered strong commercial results
Played a key role in developing innovative, compliant waste solutions
What truly sets Gabby apart is her approach. Her commitment to customers, her support for colleagues, and her involvement in charitable initiatives reflect the values that underpin our business.
At just 22 years old, she has already built a reputation that extends beyond Windsor Waste Management, and her recognition at the Demmy’s is a clear sign of what’s to come.
Award-Winning Marketing
In addition to recognising our rising talent, our Group Marketing Manager, Kris Plunkett, was awarded Marketing Manager of the Year, showcasing the impact of marketing within a highly technical and regulated industry.
Entering the demolition and hazardous waste sector without prior experience, Kris has, in a short period of time, transformed how Windsor Waste Management communicates with the market.
Since joining in April 2024, her work has included:
Taking full ownership of marketing across digital, print, events, PR, and CRM
Strengthening brand visibility across the demolition supply chain
Supporting compliance messaging and customer understanding
Embedding marketing into wider business functions, including sales and operations
This recognition highlights the growing importance of clear, effective communication in industries where compliance, safety, and trust are critical.
Celebrating the People Behind the Industry
The Demmy Awards represent a refreshing and important addition to the industry calendar. While projects and innovation remain vital, events like this recognise that people are at the heart of everything the demolition sector achieves.
For Windsor Waste Management, this aligns closely with our own values. Whether it’s supporting customers with complex hazardous waste challenges or investing in our team’s development, we know that our people are what set us apart.
Looking Ahead
To see both emerging and established talent recognised on a national stage is a huge moment, not just for Windsor Waste Management, but for the demolition industry as a whole.
We’d like to congratulate everyone recognised at the inaugural Demmy Awards and extend our thanks to Demolition Hub for creating a platform dedicated to celebrating the individuals who make this industry what it is.
