Project Details

During the spring and summer of 2024 Windsor Waste Management (WWM) worked in partnership with Shield Asbestos Services, a division of Shield Services Group to remove approximately 212 tonnes of material from Charlcroft Business Park in Southampton. To make way for modern new business units, the project involved the demolition and compliant disposal of asbestos contaminated industrial units by utilising our innovative Hazibag. Due to the hazardous fibrous asbestos rubble, it was essential that we delivered a safe and compliant waste collection and disposal service for all involved.

Service Delivered

Once the hazardous nature of the materials had been identified, we worked with Shield to implement a removal plan using UN approved Hazibags for the containment and transportation of asbestos, fully managed by WWM. With the use of Hazibag, site operatives were provided with a safe alternative to carry out the necessary works, whilst remaining compliant with HSE legislation. The works began in March of 2024 with the project completing in June.

Results Achieved

Over 212 tonnes of rubble contaminated with flock asbestos was removed from the site and taken to an appropriate and licensed hazardous waste disposal facility. It took a total of 12 containers and 4 tippers, and over 330 Hazibags to complete the project. The whole operation was carried out smoothly, from the first visit to site, up to final treatment. All duty of care obligations were carried out thoroughly providing Shield Asbestos Services with peace of mind that the waste audit trail would stand up to scrutiny.
