Due to the nature of the project, Windsor Waste Management worked with AIM Environmental Ltd prior to the start of the project to establish a plan of action that would ensure services were delivered within the expected timeframes. For the road to remain accessible outside of the project’s operating hours, the hazardous waste needed to be cleared before the end of each day to eliminate risk to road users and the environment.

The site manager had direct contact with Windsor Waste Management’s transport department to update the team on progress and any last-minute adjustments to the schedule. Drivers were stationed near the site to deliver the bins via a wait-and-load service which ensured an immediate delivery and efficient clearance.

Over the course of three weekends, Windsor Waste Management used significant resources to supply trucks for the early-hour works and ensure a container was readily available at all operating times. In total, the waste was collected in fourteen 20-yard Windsor Waste Management RoRos. Over 160 tonnes of contaminated cement bonded asbestos was removed from the site and taken to an appropriate and licensed hazardous waste disposal facility.

The operation was carried out smoothly, from the initial communication and planning to collection and final treatment. All duty of care obligations were carried out thoroughly providing Aim Environmental Ltd and National Highways with peace of mind that the waste audit trail adheres to regulations and the highest standards of compliance.
